Are you passionate about social justice? Want to be part of a community that gives back while learning about artisans around the world? Volunteer with us!

One World Market is Durham's only nonprofit, volunteer-staffed fair trade store. Sourcing beautiful handmade goods from over 70 countries around the globe, our goal is to help alleviate poverty and preserve traditional art forms for artisans in the developing world while promoting conscious buying choices for our local community.

One World Market volunteers help with everything from customer service on the sales floor to unpacking and tagging orders, keeping the store clean and organized, wrapping gifts, and promoting fair trade via social media. This is a great opportunity for all ages, from high school students (must be at least 15 years old to volunteer) to retirees. Some of our volunteers have been with One World since it began in 1992! We look forward to matching your interests with our fair trade mission.

Please note: We schedule volunteers for 2-hour shifts, and ask that all volunteers commit at least 4 hours per month for a period of at least 6 months. Maximum is 8 hours per month (four 2-hour shifts). Prospective volunteers must complete an application and attend a 1-hour orientation + 2-hour training. Schedules are flexible and increased hours are available during our peak holiday season.

If interested, please visit http://www.shoponeworldmarket.com/volunteers and fill out the online form, or email our Volunteer Coordinator, Amy Bourret, at amy@oneworldmarket.info. We try to hold volunteer orientations once or twice a month, with the last orientation for the year occurring in September. For upcoming orientation dates, please refer to the "Store Events" calendar on our website, or contact Amy.
