Lynn Economic Opportunity (LEO), Inc. a community action agency, serves all communities with the idea to alleviate the impact of poverty while providing opportunities for financial stability for individuals, families, and the strength of the greater community of Lynn and its surrounding towns. LEO's services include Child Development Programs, Fuel/Weatherization, Community Services, and Emergency Support.

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: LEO's Fuel Assistance program assists low-income households in Lynn, Lynnfield, Nahant, Saugus, Swampscott, and Wakefield by subsidizing and accessing discounts for winter utility bills from November through May. After you have qualified for fuel assistance, you may also be eligible for conservation measures to make your home more energy efficient, cutting the cost of utility bills. From energy-saving tips to free energy-saving light bulbs, insulation, furnace repairs or new appliances, a conservation specialist will visit your home for an assessment. This is a National Grid funded service. Households with elderly, disabled, and children under 6 years old are the first priority.

POSITION SUMMARY: Community Connection volunteers assist LEO’s Weatherization department in connecting with individuals who could be eligible for free home energy assistance such as appliance replacement, light bulb replacement, roofs replacement, and other home energy programs. Volunteers will make a brief phone call to prequalified LEO’s clients who are already enrolled in another LEO program. The phone call to the clients ensures that they are safe and connected to all of LEO’s community assistance programs.
