ORGANIZATION: Oregon Coast Community Action

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for picking up Fresh Alliance donations from local businesses/partners. Represent South Coast Food Share to the public.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Reason position exists is to perform these functions.)

  1. Picks up food donations in a timely and courteous manner
  2. Ensures food safety during transport and resolves food handling problems
  3. Loads/Unloads and organizes product in the warehouse
  4. Assists in proper storage, stacking and temperature control for food products received via donations
  5. Tracks food donations using established record and inventory systems
  6. Represent South Coast Food Share to donors and member agencies with knowledge and respect.
  7. Attend occasional team meetings
  8. Regular attendance is a requirement of the position.

  1. Attend staff meetings, center meetings, and/or other workshops/meetings as notified
  2. Maintain a positive attitude regarding ORCCA and all its programs
  3. Model behaviors that demonstrate an understanding, acceptance and welcoming of diversity
  4. Maintain respect and positive communication regarding all children, families and staff.
  5. Maintain confidentiality of client and staff information.
  6. Maintain open, two-way communication with staff
  7. Accept suggestions and guidance from supervisor and other management staff
  8. Seek feedback on job performance and evaluate suggestions and guidance to incorporate in performance
  9. Commit to further training. Develop an individual training plan using program tools, as appropriate.
  10. Communicate with supervisor regarding any needed changes or concerns with work schedule.
  11. Regular attendance is a requirement of the position.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  1. Oregon Food Handler’s card or ServSafe(r) Food Safety Certification within 30 days of hire and update it as required. (Oregon Food Handler’s card Fee covered by ORCCA)
  2. Ability to operate a variety of vehicles and equipment (Box truck, Hyster, pallet jack, other similar).
  3. Ability to perform strenuous and repetitive physical labor.
  4. Basic math operations (including adding, subtracting, percentage calculation, multiplication and division)
  5. Ability to problem solve effectively
  6. Ability to adjust to fast changing conditions while being flexible in a fast paced work environment
  7. Ability to adjust work hours according to program needs
  8. Ability to follow policies and procedures
  9. Ability to maintain inventory control records
  10. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  11. Demonstrated ability in problem solving and decision-making.
  12. Excellent organizational skills.
  13. Familiarity with office material and equipment including, but not limited to, writing instruments, keyboard, calculator, copy machine, computer, cell phone and telephone. Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel

WORK ENVIORNMENT

  1. Geographic Area: Coos County- Primary worksite: SCFS Warehouse-Coos Bay, Oregon
  2. May lift items up to 51 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
  3. Access to indoor office, in a climate-controlled environment; may not have access to sunlight. Regular activities outside in a non-climate controlled environment.
  4. Regular lifting, bending
  5. Regular walking and standing for prolonged periods of time.
  6. Regular interaction with volunteers and community members
  7. Driving to sites on a regular basis throughout Coos and Curry Counties will be required.
OTHER
  1. A current Oregon Driver’s License is required.
  2. Proof of automobile liability insurance @ $100,000/300,000 liability limits and maintain such limits.
  3. Able to pass State of Oregon Criminal Background Check
  4. Reliable transportation for getting to work.
  5. Must be free from illegal drugs, may be subject to suspicion testing.

Oregon Coast Community Action (ORCCA) is a nonprofit network of programs that feed, house, warm and educate people. Our joint administration provides a cost effective way to manage and develop programs to meet the needs of the communities we serve. We strive to provide families with help up and out of poverty, not just a hand out. Among ORCCA's programs are South Coast Head Start, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate helping children in state custody though the legal process), Housing & Emergency Services, Energy Assistance and Great Afternoons (GA provides year-round classes, clubs and activities for all ages). ORCCA covers Coos & Curry Counties and Western Douglas County.
