Love the Library? Volunteer at the South Branch Library!

The South Library is looking for volunteers to act as lead teachers or tutors for its Citizenship Classes. The South Branch Library and Catholic Charities are collaborating to offer these courses at the South Library.

This citizenship program offers FREE Civics and Literacy classes. The classes include FREE Interview Preparation for adults eligible for the Naturalization process.

The new semester starts at the South Library on October 8, 2018. Volunteer training will occur prior to the beginning of the new semester. Volunteers must be available on EITHER Monday OR Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm for 10 weeks. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

The South Library is located at 3104 Strong Avenue, Kansas City, KS 66106.

The Kansas City, Kansas Public Library is composed of five branches, 3 mobile libraries, and Support Services Center. The library is governed by the Board of Education of Unified School District #500. As a public library, KCKPL recognizes that the library serves all residents of Wyandotte County, no matter age or economic conditions. This service area comprises a large and diverse population tha t is challenged by high levels of poverty and poor economic conditions. The goals of the library speak to broad community needs, including adequately located, maintained, accessible and secure public spaces; to ensure that services being offered to patrons are current and meet the needs of a constantly evolving community; to ensure that KCKPL is a good steward of tax-payer dollars; and that all citizens of Wyandotte County have access to library services.
