We are looking for 2 types of volunteers to make a difference in our hospice patients' lives - administrative and direct care. I believe making a difference in a hospice patient's life is one of the most rewarding things a volunteer can do. We assign patient duties based on the patient's needs and the volunteer's talents and availability.
Administrative to help with general office duties such as:
- Copying & collecting materials.
- Assist with outgoing mailings.
- Typing and assisting with correspondence.
- Assist with organizing and staffing Hospice events and activities.
- Making cards, baskets, etc to be given to hospice patients.
- Providing companionship such as visiting with, reading to, writing letters, playing cards or even just sitting and listening to the patient.
- May provide respite to families by running errands, light meal preparation light house keeping chores or other tasks.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide compassionate care and clinical excellence for our patients and their families. We believe that hospice should neither hasten nor postpone death, but rather provide physical, emotional and spiritual care for the patient and family during the process. We understand dying as a process and therefore provide care and comfort rather than a cure. We believe life is sacred. To accomplish our mission, we use the palliative-care team approach to patient management.
Description
Ross Health Care is a patient oriented end of life healthcare organization. Our hospice goal is to help patients to remain at home during the final days or months of a terminal or severely debilitating illness. The palliative-care team includes physicians, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Social Worker, Chaplain, Certified Home Health Aides, Volunteers and other services as required.
Volunteers are a very important part of hospice care as they can provide direct assistance to patient and family or administrative support for staff. We assign our volunteers to what suits them best whether it be direct visits with patients or administrative duties in the office (filing, etc). You tell us your availability and we will schedule you accordingly.
