FRESH BUCKS COIN COUNTING
In 2007, Farm Fresh RI invested in creating the Fresh Bucks infrastructure - a token-based currency now used at farmers markets across RI. Fresh Bucks enable farmers markets to accept debit and credit cards in exchange for Fresh Bucks coins that customers can use to purchase items directly from farmers market vendors. Though an increasing number of vendors are accepting debit/credit cards at their stands, not all can afford to. Fresh Bucks empower even the smallest farms and food businesses to accept payment from a wider array of customers.
The Opportunity
Every Tuesday morning, we double-check the totals of the tokens turned in by our vendors, then roll and bag those tokens for reuse. We're looking for a detail-oriented and tidy volunteer to assist with this process. Neat handwriting and good mental addition skills are a plus!

Description
Farm Fresh Rhode Island is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded in 2004.
Part incubator, part activator, our programs link local farmers and buyers by building RI’s capacity in three areas: Producers → Markets → Eaters
Begun in 2004 as a student thesis project at Brown University, Farm Fresh has grown briskly to capture the public interest in locally grown food and translate it into sales for RI farmers and producers. Strongly mission-driven, Farm Fresh achieved 501c3 status in 2007 and has since implemented a variety of programs to enhance the local food system of the Rhode Island region, with particular attention to farm viability and low-income access to fresh food. Farm Fresh operates a wide range of marketplace programs (retail, wholesale, processing) that engages and connects tens of thousands of RI, MA and CT eaters with thousands of RI, MA and CT farmers.
