*Please note that while this opportunity is listed as a virtual opportunity, all events for this opportunity will take place within the Thurston and Mason counties of Washington State. Our office is located in Olympia very close to Lacey - you will need to be able to meet with us semi-regularly at this location.*

Be a mascot for the South Sound Reading Foundation! You will play the part of Booker T. Bear, who spreads the joy of reading to kids at Reading Foundation events throughout the year. Highlights include performing alongside the Mariner Moose at our Grand Slam Book Drive Assembly in March, walking in Shelton and Yelm parades in the summer, and attending all kinds of other literacy-themed events during the rest of the year.

You'll need to be comfortable interacting with children and their families. As a mascot, Booker does not speak with the kids - our staff and possibly your handler will take care of this. The mascot costume provides low peripheral vision, so if you know someone who would like to come along and be your handler at our events, they are welcome too! If not, our staff will perform this function. Lastly, wearing the costume can be rather warm - you are welcome to take breaks as needed.
