After School Play is all about using the Power of Play to see a transformation in the lives of children. We believe that children learn and grow best through play-based programs. We focus on the social-emotional development of children through fun and engaging programs like basketball, coding, futsal, theater, and even cooking. As children are exposed to new ways to have fun, they also grow with the help of caring adult mentor relationships.
If you're a teen or adult who loves to play and would like to invest in the lives of elementary school students through tutoring, trying new activities, and having fun - this is the place for you. Our goal is to find compassionate volunteers who can help our students become the best that they can be.
Here is a snapshot of the daily schedule:
2:30-3:00pm: Arrival/Creative Play (kinetic sand, dolls, Legos, Play Doh, etc.)
3:00-3:40pm: Homework/Tutoring (students will complete homework or supplemented academic materials)
3:40-4:00pm: Book Club (reading time)
4:00-4:30pm: Programming (art, cooking, music, STEM, and reading)
4:30-4:45pm: Dinner
4:45-5:15pm: Free Time
**ALL Volunteers are required to follow COVID related guidelines including masking, hand washing, temperature checks, and reporting of illness.**
