About Project REAL:
Project REAL has served the student of Nevada since 2005 by teaching them about the law, their rights, and how to use those rights. We contribute to a safer Nevada where students obey they law and improve their communities through civic engagement and volunteerism.

Our work includes providing courthouse field-trips to students that get to see live criminal court proceedings, teaching students laws they are likely to encounter and need to be aware of, providing learning opportunities outside the classroom, and developing healthy relationships between students and law enforcement officials.

About the position:
Project REAL is a small nonprofit organization that has a significant impact in Nevada. We serve an average of 16,000 students in Nevada each year with a team of just 2 full time employees, 1 part time employee, a few interns & contractors, and our invaluable volunteers.

Under the direction of our Program Director, the Volunteer Coordinator will learn the industry's best practices for recruiting, retaining, scheduling, training, and managing volunteers.

Prior to joining Project REAL, our Program Director built and managed volunteer programs for many different organizations and causes ranging from an education program with 50 volunteers serving 8 hours a week each to an animal shelter with more than 1,000 volunteers serving each month. This is an excellent opportunity to learn from the best and develop an impressive skill-set - all while helping Project REAL serve thousands of Nevada's students!

While you don't need to have a desire to begin working in the nonprofit sector professionally, for the right person our Volunteer Coordinator position is an excellent first step if you'd like to join the rewarding world of nonprofit service. The experience will be equally rewarding if you are interested in developing management skills for the for-profit world as well!

About our volunteer needs:
Project REAL has a number of volunteer opportunities our Volunteer Coordinator will help address. Volunteer positions include in-class presenters, courthouse field-trip guides, fund development assistants, and academic resource developers.

About the position's requirements:
Our Volunteer Coordinator will be available to serve at least 15 hours each week in our office located in Downtown Las Vegas. Setting your own schedule, you will serve at least three 5 hour shifts or two 8-hour shifts during our Monday-Friday office hours.

Additional service can be provided from home, however having a regular presence in our office is vital to this position's success.

An Academic Credit / Internship / Work-Training Opportunity(if you want):
While it is not a requirement for filling this position, if you have some kind of official need to meet, simply let us know who to reach out to! If your organization is willing to partner with us, we'll be happy to get things rolling!
