Help keep 20 vulnerable young adults safe and warm at night during the freezing temperatures of the Detroit winter

Emergency Shelter Volunteers - Resident Assistant

RISE Emergency Youth Shelter is a partnership between Detroit Phoenix Center & Breakers Covenant Church International. RISE is designed to keep 20 vulnerable young adults safe and warm at night during the freezing temperatures of the Detroit winter, seven days a week from 7:00PM-7:00AM starting on February 3rd until March 31st.

Emergency Resident Assistants responsibilities will include, but aren't limited too:

Intake/Welcome: registration table, screening consumers (ID and Intake Assessment)

Food Service : serving food and clean up for breakfast and/or dinner

Maintenance: Cleaning bathroom, Restocking materials/supplies/

Operations: Basic Need Assistance (shower room, washer/dryer, clothing, floating)

Recreation Activities: lead gaming/recreational activities

All volunteers are required to participate in a 2-day volunteer training. The first volunteer training dates are on January 27th and February 3rd.
