MRC volunteers will be able to assist the community in a number of ways including, but not limited to, assisting with medical dispensing clinics, health fairs, trainings and presentations such as community readiness, and first aid stations at large events. The McDonough County Health Department also recently completed a 5 year IPLAN (Illinois Project of Local Assessment of Needs) which identified the top 3 health needs in the county. MRC volunteers could be used to help address these needs through education, trainings, and events. MRC volunteers would also be able to assist the community through the new CDC We Choose Health grant which will help the residents with Workplace Wellness, Joint Use Agreements, Smoke-free Public Places, and Safe Streets. Successful public health campaigns include not only educating the community, but getting them involved in the process as well. Not only will McDonough County residents benefit from a MRC, but the volunteers will benefit as well.
