For English language learners, an inability to speak or understand English can make individuals feel isolated and conscious of being "different". That isolation and miscommunication vastly limits opportunities and advancement. Through English language instruction, students grow in confidence and feel more connected to the community around them.
We count on the steady support and encouragement of dedicated tutors to help students reach their reading, education and career goals. In our Community Classrooms, tutors work with students individually or in small groups on a variety of activities to increase skills and knowledge. Using a student-centered curriculum, volunteers guide students in learning English to help them reach personal levels of success.
