About

Playhouse Square Sensory-Friendly Performance
The Gruffalo: Live on Stage, 11:30am, Tuesday, March 6, 2018
Playhouse Square is hosting two sensory-friendly performances, making live theater more accessible to children and adults on the autism spectrum and their families.
Twenty volunteers are needed for each show to make this experience enjoyable for the many guests who come to the Ohio Theater at Playhouse Square! The time commitment is 9:30 am to 12:45 pm both days.
While experienced Playhouse Square ushers (aka RedCoats) will be on hand to help guests find their seats and answer questions about the theater, additional volunteers are needed in the aisles to guide guests and families to the restrooms, to areas where specially designed activities can be enjoyed, and to quiet areas which will be available for those who may need to rest or regroup. Volunteers should be 14 and older, possess a positive and calming demeanor, and have the stamina to be on their feet for approximately two-and-a-half hours. Coffee and donuts will be provided during the volunteer orientation, which begins at 9:30am.
Volunteers are asked to wear black dress slacks. Playhouse Square will be providing a red volunteer t-shirt for identification purposes. As a "thank you" for volunteers, Playhouse Square has generously offered up to four (4) complimentary tickets to a mythic reinvention of the classic coming-of-age story Lula Del Rey, which takes place on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 3pm.
If you can volunteer for one or both of these events, please contact Stefanie Galbreath at 216.931.4442 or galbreath.stefanie@cuyahogabdd.org.
