Volunteer Opportunities at J&S Caring FoodPantry:
We are looking for volunteers who can commit to regularly support our mission.
*Volunteers must be able to lift weights up to 55lbs. Comfortable footwear is required.*
Meal Prep and Service: J&S Food Pantry provides cooked meals several times a year and needs up to 3 volunteers to prep and cook. Additionally, 3 to serve approximately 150 meals to guests. Volunteer times vary.
Food Pantry Stocking Volunteers: Each distribution we serve approximately 100-150 families through our Food Pantry. 2-3 volunteers are needed to sort incoming deliveries, food pantry and donations. Other pop-up locations and times vary.
Food Pantry Volunteers: 2-3 volunteers are needed to assist in assembling and breaking down distribution area from 10:00am-2:00pm every Tuesday at our main location. 3 food pantry volunteers to assist clients in choosing food and other items during pantry distribution hours. Other pop-up locations and times vary.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in an orientation before start date
- Assist J&S staff with receiving food from our suppliers
- Ensure food is examined and apply quality control as needed
- Organize and repack inventory
- Assist with cleaning
- Participate in special projects based on need

Mission Statement
To alleviate hunger and poverty in the Bronx by providing fresh produce, clothing, and toiletries through J&S Caring Food Pantry's distributions. Our services include bagged/cooked food, emergency food/clothing assistance, and services for low income families, senior citizens and disabled residents.
Description
J&S is a 501c3 approved organization and offer various assistance in our communities. We are a pop-up/mobile food pantry. Many people who visit food pantries have jobs and are working families who do not qualify for government assistance. At J&S Caring Food Pantry, we help to fill that gap; we provide emergency food boxes to those families who may go hungry without assistance. We offer clothing, counseling and other services for those in need. We do not offer monetary assistance. We deliver bagged and cooked food to local shelters, transitional homes, senior homes and assisted living facilities. We work along with many private local community organizations as well and precincts throughout New York City.
