The South Carolina Youth Leadership Conference continues to grow in services to our young adults including the Individual Leadership Education And Development project for ninth grade students - ILEAD-9. This innovative program is now expanding to May River High School in Bluffton resulting in the need for additional individuals who enjoy working with our young adults. We are especially looking for those with a strong interest in personal leadership and who may have a particular expertise they might share with the students. This may include any field such as health, science, the arts and other areas where high schoolers may benefit from such knowledge as to how it might impact their personal leadership. We also need those who are willling to assist with the classes where exercises on teamwork requires working with small groups of four or five students. Our programs are currently at Hilton Head Island High School and May River High School and are held one day on alternate weeks. Please contact Jan Steffen at: Jansteffen21@gmail.com to discuss your interests!

Mission Statement
To engage young adults of the Stare of South Carolina in the art of leadership in helping them develop and enhance those skills necessary to excel in their future endeavors.
Description
The South Carolina Youth Leadership Conference, a non-profit, 501(c) 3 organization, is designed to provide an initial program on the fundamentals of personal leadership with ongoing follow up to those who complete the session. The program seeks to bring together one sophomore from each high school in the State of SC for a 4-day Conference each spring at the University of SC Beaufort's Hilton Head Gateway Campus and at Clemson University. Students are normally selected by their school principal and/or guidance counselor based on the administrators' judgement in identifying those students with strong leadership potential and do not necessarily need to be considered among the "brightest" or be a "career oriented" student. The SCYLC is in it's 4th year, growing and on a path to make a difference in the lives of nearly 400 young adults this year.
