Are you interested in wildlife? Would you like to learn how to take care of live raptors? Are you over the age of 18? The Ogden Nature Center is looking for volunteers to help us take care of our resident raptors. These birds can no longer survive in the wild on their own due to injury, and now live here at the Ogden Nature Center and help with outreach and onsite educational programming.

Feeders are responsible for feeding the birds and cleaning enclosures. Our feeders are a tight knit group, and many have become great friends. We ask that you commit to one day a week (we are currently looking for folks to help out on Fridays or Saturdays), and sign up for at least the next six months.

If you are interested please contact Alyssa Stegmaier the ONC Volunteer Coordinator, who will guide you through a volunteer orientations, and get you in touch with our Wildlife Specialist Bryce. Bryce will help to train you, and be able to answer any questions you might have about the birds.

About Ogden Nature Center

Location:

966 West 12th Street, Ogden, UT 84404, US

Mission Statement

To unite people with nature and to nurture appreciation and stewardship of the environment.

Description

We are a 152-acre nature preserve with a focus on environmental education.
Each year the Ogden Nature Center brings more than 27,000 children, teachers, and adults together with nature through hands-on field classes. Participants in our education programs, both for school groups and for the community, observe and learn about plants and animals up-close, discovering the pleasure of being in nature and realizing their own connection to the environment.

The center is open to the public for discovery and exploration.
Visitors enjoy meeting our resident animal ambassadors including birds of prey, snakes, tortoises, salamanders and other native animal species. Outside there are picnic areas, treehouses, bird blinds, a spotting tower and 1.5 miles of walking trails. The Nature Center boasts two of Utah’s greenest buildings, with hands-on nature exhibits and a unique gift store.

The Ogden Nature Center offers a wide variety of community programs for all ages including art, photography, birding, wildlife in Utah, outdoor recreation, conservation, sustainable practices and more. During the summer, week-long nature camps are taught by our team of teacher-naturalists. Several community events are held each year including an Earth Day Celebration and Creatures of the Night at Halloween.
