Event: Living Black History at Lakeview Cemetery
Event Description: This program is the fourth of a four-part series of Distance Learning programs featuring prominent African-Americans who contributed to the development of Cleveland and who are buried in LakeView Cemetery. This special series is a collaboration between the LakeView Cemetery Foundation, Hiram Collage, the Western Reserve Historical Society and WVIZ/PBS ideastsream. Each one-hour session will be hosted by Dee Perry and featuring a Hiram College professor sharing the story of a prominent African-American contributor to the City of Cleveland. Individuals that will be profiled include:
- Zelma George - Artist, Philanthropist, Goodwill Ambassador, Lecturer for U.S. State Department
- Lethia Cousins Fleming - Founder of the Negro Welfare Association, now the National Urban League; and member of County Welfare Board
- William Otis Walker - Co-founder of the Washington DC Tribune, managed the Cleveland Call & Post, first African-American to hold an Ohio State Government Cabinet Position
- Fannie Lewis - elected to and served in the Cleveland City Council for 30 years

Volunteer Arrival and End Time:
- 9:00am - 1:00pm
- (4) Usher - Provide programs (if applicable), and assist seating guests in the Nord Teaching Lab
- (2) Greeter/Food and Beverage - Assist with providing directional guidance throughout the Idea Center , and setting up and tearing down of food and beverage areas
- (2) Floater - available to assist guests with directions within the building, i.e. restrooms, studios, etc.; will also be on hand to assist staff with items that arise

Today, ideastream is the consolidation of eight different programs and services that had previously been independently managed: WVIZ/PBS, with 4 channels of public TV service, and training for teachers and caregivers in the use of technology for education; 90.3 WCPN, Northeast Ohio’s NPR news and public affairs station; WCLV 104.9 Classical, Civic Commons, a community engagement platform; management on behalf of Ohio’s public broadcasting stations of the Ohio Public Radio and Television Statehouse News Bureau and The Ohio Channel, a statewide public affairs television channel available by broadcast and on the web; management on behalf of a consortium of local K-12 school systems of NOTA (North Ohio Technology Association, a broadband interactive distance learning network for K-12 schools) and SMART (Science and Math Achievement Required for Tomorrow), a professional development program for teachers.
