ORGANIZATION: State Library of Oregon

  • 2 people are interested

Thank you for looking into our volunteer opportunity at the State Library! This opportunity is with our Talking Book & Braille Library, a division of the State Library that serves Oregonians who are print disabled.

As the Collection Assistant you will be helping the Collection Coordinator shift books from within the collection to a designated area. This includes using carts, stools and other means to retrieve and place books. We are hoping to start this project as soon as possible and the project itself will last until all identified books have been moved.

We are looking for someone who has a high attention to detail, has the ability to stand for an extended period of time and can read and distinguish 5 digit numbers. There are also some physical requirements as you will need the ability to bend, get up on stools and reach above your head to place books. Please help us with this unique opportunity to get behind the scenes at Talking Books and helps us clear the way for the arrival of any new books.

Description

The State Library of Oregon cultivates, preserves, and delivers library and information services to foster lifelong leaning and community engagement.

There are three main divisions of the State Library:

Government Information and Library Services provides research and reference assistance to state government and to persons on official state business. Their in-depth collection of more than one million items specializes in business, history, political and social sciences.
