Description

Soweto Youth Initiative is a Community Based Organization registered by the government of Kenya.Soweto is a slum located at about ten kilometers away from the city of Nairobi.
It has a population of about 10,000 people where the bigger percentage comprises of the youth. Soweto has many typical slum problems just like any other slums around the world .The challenges that the community face are;-

  • Early pregnancies
  • School dropouts
  • Drug abuse
  • Malnutrition
  • HIV pandemic
  • Poverty
  • Domestic violence

It is due to these problems that we took an initiative to start this Community Based Organization (C.B.O)by the name SOWETO YOUTH INITIATIVE (S.Y.I) to be able to tackle them or reduce their magnitude.
