Antioch Animal Services has an expanding network of transfer partners - shelters/rescues that are willing to take our animals into their adoption programs and help us free up kennel/cage space.
We are always looking for volunteers who are willing to use their personal vehicles to drive our animals to our transfer partners. Transport drives can be as close as other Bay Area organizations - Oakland, San Jose, San Francisco, etc. We have sent dogs to Lake Tahoe, Southern California, and even to Oregon and Idaho. We need volunteers who don't mind the occasional drive and are willing to be on our transport list. There is no obligation to say yes every time, as we understand that these trips are all about timing.
Requirements:
- Personal vehicle, especially SUVs, covered trucks, and vans!
- Clean driving record
- Comfortable transporting cats, dogs, and the occasional small/exotic animal (animals will be crated for transport)
- For long trips, able to safely handle dogs for potty breaks
This is a volunteer position, and Antioch Animal Services is unable to reimburse volunteers for costs associated with transport.
How to get started:
Please visit the volunteer page to download a volunteer application and sign up for a volunteer orientation: http://www.ci.antioch.ca.us/CityGov/Police/AntiochAnimalSvcs/volunteering.htm
