ORGANIZATION: The Salvation Army National Capital Area Command

Under the direct supervision of the Regional Music Coordinator, the Music Instructor or Outreach Volunteer will support youth music programs by assisting with after school lessons in the evenings in one or more of the following areas: brass, piano, guitar, choir, praise band, and dance. The volunteer may also (or instead) do outreach with local universities, schools, and nursing homes and assisted living facilities to make connections and enhance the volunteer flow to programs as well as opportunities for the youth music programs to play for outside groups.

The Salvation Army National Capital Area Command serves the nation’s capital and its surrounding communities with programs and locations that serve families in need with emergency assistance, housing, substance abuse treatment, youth enrichment opportunities, spiritual care and worship, and emergency disaster services.
