Advocate for Residents in Long Term Care Facilities Kaufman County
Volunteer to Become a Long Term Care Ombudsman Resident Advocate
Volunteer Ombudsmen set their own schedule to visit nursing and assisted living facility residents and advocate for their rights. As needed, they work with staff, family members and others to resolve residents’ concerns.
To qualify you must be 18 years old, complete four once weekly free local training classes, serve an internship and agree to serve at least two hours per week in a local facility for minimum of 1 year. No experience is required.

Description
The Agency plans and coordinates services for persons ages 60 and older and their family caregivers who live in the 14 counties surrounding Dallas and Tarrant. Direct services include: information and referral, case management, benefits counseling, legal assistance, ombudsman, money organizer, homemaker, and caregiver education and training.
