AHRC Nassau is committed to enriching the lives of the people whom we support. With that in mind we have reached out to those people to see how volunteers might be able to help with that commitment. This is our ongoing series of opportunities giving you the chance to work one on one with someone served by this agency.
Meet Jean Marie!
Jean Marie lives in Massapequa and loves arts and crafts, getting her nails done, trying on jewelry and doing other girly things. She would love to spend time with you working on art projects and perfecting her glamorous look.

Mission Statement
The mission of AHRC Nassau is to advocate for, teach and assist children and adults with developmental disabilities to make life choices, exercise independence and develop responsibility. In this endeavor, AHRC Nassau encourages all individuals to fulfill their dreams and become productive members of the community. This is accomplished by providing an array of individual and family supports.
Description
AHRC Nassau provides an array of support services to more than 2000 children and adults with developmental disabilities through a variety of programs (Residential, Education, Vocational, Child Care, Supported Employment, Respite, Recreation, Benefits/Entitlement, Clinical & Medical).
From gardening to music to movement, Wheatley Farms is not only a part of AHRC Nassau’s Day Habilitation services, but a place for the community to come together. People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), including autism, can connect with their passions while engaging the local community through recreational, social and volunteer opportunities. Wheatley Farms will grow to become fully inclusive and available to people attending all AHRC Nassau Day Habilitation programs. We seek to connect people based on their shared interests in the arts and operation of a functioning farm. We invite friends and neighbors to join classes, tours, and community-related events.CAUSE AREAS
