Gala Theme - Art without borders PAL is hosting its annual fundraising GALA at Garden Court Hotel, Palo Alto. We are inviting all volunteers to help us make this event a big success.


Roles and responsibilities 1) Registration - help with check-in procedures. Take names and check off, direct guests to tables, bars, coats, greet at door etc. 2) Silent and Live Auction - Managing silent auction bid sheets, packing and organizing auction items, act as spotters for the auctioneer during the live auction, record live auction winning bidders, help with sales during the live auction. 3) Check-out & Clean-up - Directing guests to check-out, help with the cleanup ( keeping track of auction items, gift certificates and other important documents after the event. 4) Dress code - Wear your favourite sari, kilt, cheongsam, lederhosen or dirndl, or simply just relax in cocktail attire. 5) Volunteer Benefits- Dinner and a fun night with 20th-century artists.

Volunteers training - 4.00pm to 5.30pm

General Characteristics

- Personable and engaging. Positive attitude.
- Able to represent the organization in a professional manner. To be able to recite facts and history of the organization.

Check-in/Check-out

- Organized and quick to act.

- Familiar with computers and comfortable using unfamiliar software.

- Able to work in a team and communicate effectively.

Art Movers

- Physical strength to carry and lift art pieces for patrons.

Spotters

- Visual acuity and alertness to assist auctioneer spot bidders

The Pacific Art League's mission is to expression, appreciation and enjoyment of the visual arts. Since 1921, the Pacific Art League has been a gathering place and source of inspiration and instruction in fine arts. Founded as "The Palo Alto Art Club," we created a valuable addition to the San Francisco Peninsula's cultural life.

Description

We are a membership organization, guided by a volunteer Board of Directors, and managed by a staff of professionals. We are assisted by many Volunteer Leaders who bring expertise and dedication to a wide variety of projects.

The Pacific Art League is an inviting place for anyone who wants to create art. Nearly two-thirds of our members describe themselves as amateur or student artists. Members frequently comment that the Art League is more than just a place to exhibit art and take classes. Rather, it is a community of individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, ages, and skills who come together to express themselves through art.

The Pacific Art League has provided opportunities for participation in the visual arts for more than 80 years. The League was founded as the Palo Alto Art Club in 1921 by a widely talented group of people who recognized a need to meet other artists, to work together and discuss and critique each others' works. We have grown into an organization that provides classes and kids camps, opportunities for artists as well as outreach programs to other community organizations to provide art experiences for those in special circumstances.
