Purpose: The position of the Events Assistant serves as the assistant to the Program Manager for Alley Cat Rescue, supporting the organization’s mission of giving care and compassion to all cats in the United States and abroad. The Events Assistant will assist in our adoption and outreach events.

Location: 3906 Rhode Island Ave, Brentwood MD, 20722. Events will be held on and off-site.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assists with event set-up and break-down
• Greets event participants
• Answers questions about ACR and provides appropriate information
• Assists with adoptions
• Organizes and updates supply inventory
• Additional tasks as needed.

Responsible to: Program Manager, Director of Planning and Administration.

Length of Appointment: The Events Assistant is assigned to 2 events per month for a minimum of 6 months. We also welcome groups for large one-time events.

Time Commitment: Events are usually 4 hours with set-up and clean-up, and occur on weekends. There is also availability for events during the week.

Qualifications: Knowledge of basic customer service and willingness to learn about ACR. Pleasant manner, patience, friendly, dependability, organized. Able to travel to events.

Support: Training for this position will be provided. In addition, the Director will be available for questions and assistance.

Dress Code: Casual clothes; ACR T-shirt will be given to wear while at events.

Benefits: Volunteers will receive a T-shirt, reusable grocery bag, newsletter and be invited to our annual volunteer appreciation event. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to practice new skills and meet others in the community, while supporting the cause of Alley Cat Rescue.
