Purpose: The position of the Office Assistant serves as the assistant to office staff for Alley Cat Rescue, supporting the organization’s mission of giving care and compassion to all cats in the United States and abroad. The Office Assistant will assist in our fundraising and outreach initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
- Answers phones, greets guests and directs them to appropriate staff member
- Answers questions about ACR and provides appropriate forms
- Helps prepare mailings
- Organizes and updates merchandise inventory
- Assists with data entry and spreadsheet maintenance
- Assists with adoptions
- Socializes cats
- Additional tasks as needed
Responsible to: Assigned staff member and the Director of Planning and Administration
Length of Appointment: The Office Assistant is assigned to one day per week for a period of three months. After three months, they may be reappointed for another three months at the discretion of the supervisor. After six months, the person who is serving as Office Assistant may rotate to another position within the agency, or stay at their current position.
Time Commitment: One day per week (Sunday - Friday) for 3 hours (9 a.m.-12 p.m. or 2-5 p.m.), for a minimum of three months. Volunteers who have the availability can have longer shifts or more than one day a week.
Qualifications: Customer Service. Basic knowledge of computer and data entry. Pleasant manner, patience, problem-solving ability, dependability, organized.
Support: Training for this position will be provided. In addition, the Director will be available for questions and assistance.
Dress Code: Casual clothes; ACR T-shirt will be given to wear while at office.
Benefits: Volunteers will receive a T-shirt, reusable grocery bag, newsletter and be invited to our annual volunteer appreciation event. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to practice new skills and meet others in the community, while supporting the cause of Alley Cat Rescue.

ACR is a national nonprofit organization helping ALL cats: stray, abandoned, feral and wild. We promote nonlethal methods to control cat overpopulation, such as Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). ACR also help the international animal community.
