Senior Nutrition

We are currently in need of delivery drivers in Willows and Orland.
This volunteer would deliver meals to our home bound clients. It is a 2-3 hour commitment per week. Volunteers drive Senior Nutrition vehicles that are insured and maintained by the program.
This volunteer position requires a DMV printout, fingerprint background check and TB test. All fees are paid by the program.

Senior Nutrition allows high school community service volunteers from 8am-2pm Monday-Friday. We allow court ordered community service during the same time frame on a case by case basis.

Our mission is to enable seniors to maintain maximum health, independence and dignity by providing nutritious meals in group and home settings with access to supportive services.

Description

For eligible older persons, the Senior Nutrition Program provides a nutritious meal delivered to the home. A formal needs assessment is required for participation in the home-delivered meals program.

To be eligible for home-delivered meals, the senior citizen must be:

  • Age 60 or more
  • Homebound due to illness, incapacity or disability, or be otherwise isolated
  • Determined to be in need of service within the policies set by the Area Agency on Aging and the nutrition service provider
For those seniors who are able to come to a Nutrition Site, we offer a Congregate Meals Program, which provides low-cost, hot, nutritious noon meals in a group setting.

Persons age 60 and over are eligible to participate, and underage spouses may participate as well. Recreational and social activities are included at the sites
