ORGANIZATION: HarmonyCares Hospice of Dallas

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 50 people are interested

Volunteers spend time with our Comfort Hospice patients, providing support to those who may not have family as well as providing support for the family. Volunteers visit as a friend and provide companionship.

You will share in enjoyable activities such as reading, talking, engaging in a hobby with patients to bring normalcy and relief into the home. Our volunteer team helps family members take a break so they can be rejuvenated as a caregiver, go shopping, or keep doctor appointments while their loved one has companionship from a volunteer. Our volunteers often become the highlight of someone’s day.

We would love to connect with you to share how you can make a difference in someone’s life! Connect with us today and our Volunteer Coordinator will connect with you by tomorrow!

Mission Statement

HarmonyCares Hospice serves terminally ill and bereaved persons in our community with integrity, compassion and respect. At HarmonyCares Hospice, we provide family-centered, quality end-of-life care offering a full range of health care services such as medical and nursing care, spiritual and emotional support, social work, personal care, special therapies, volunteer and bereavement services. Grace Hospice is committed to relieving physical, emotional and spiritual pain so that life can be experienced as fully and hopefully as possible.

Description

Hospice volunteers find it personally gratifying, intellectually stimulating, and emotionally meaningful to assist those in need at a critical point in their lives. Many of our volunteers are introduced to hospice thorough the death of a family member and understand firsthand the value of hospice care, but nearly 20% of volunteers are new to hospice. Volunteers consistently report that helping the terminally ill through hospice is not about dying but about living.
