Come work with us in the Children´s Library
We need a responsible and committed couple to help us run the educational programs in the Children´s Library in a tiny fishing village in northern Manabí, Ecuador.
Fundación A mano manaba is a local NGO that offers educational programs for the neighbors of Don Juan. We offer a Homework Assistance Program and Reading remedial tutorials. The Homework Assistance Program (HAP) operates at the library weekdays during the school year and offers free tutorial services and reading, writing and mathematics, as well as remediation programs for students in grades 1-7.

You must like children and be patient and kind around them. We are looking for English, Math, Art, Sports coaches and tutors. Our programs are not official or extremely structured so you will have plenty of space to be creative.

If you have teaching experience it will be helpful, but if that is not the case and you like to share your abilities and skills it will be fine. Your Spanish does not have to be perfect, we can tutor your language learning.

We are located in Don Juan, a fishing village 30 kms south of Pedernales in Manabì, Ecuador. You can reach us by bus or a 5 hour drive from Quito or Guayaquil. Don Juan is set on a beautiful beach in northern Manabì. This village was severely hit by the 7.8 earthquake that hit Ecuador on 2016.

Mission Statement

Build an efficient, open, thriving marketplace that connects people who have community and world-changing ideas with people who can support them.

Description

GlobalGiving was founded by two former World Bank executives who decided to use the Internet to create a highly efficient marketplace. The GlobalGiving platform enables more funding to reach projects throughout the globe, and, at the same time, provides a more transparent, engaging way for donors to give.
Because we enable donors to give directly to projects, they know exactly where their money is going. Donors can see progress updates on most projects as funding is received and goals are met.

Donations made through GlobalGiving are higher impact because:

  • Money is going directly to a well-defined project versus supporting general operating expenses
  • Projects on globalgiving.com have exposure to thousands of donors, enabling us to aggregate multiple sources of funding for each project
  • Many projects on globalgiving.com are located in the developing world where a little money goes a long way
