Searching for Web designer to be responsible to update our two websites for the San Diego Professionals Against Cancer and our annual festival of beer. This website individual needs to have knowledge of many of the elements of digital design, including but not limited to: color, line, space, balance, text style, photos, videos and images.

Web Designer is needed to update the structure of our current site and then overlay all of the elements we see and interact with. The web designer’s work should provide us with a beautiful and purposeful web interface, encourage us to click around, allow us to engage rapidly and take the appropriate action for SDPAC event and brand intends. Web designer must understand our site’s intended audience and design accordingly. The volunteer should be a true artist of functional and aesthetically pleasing website design.

Web person is responsible for ensuring the site runs efficiently and can function on all devices (including mobile interfaces) and can work with companies to edit and work on a previously existing site that needs design improvement.

San Diego Professionals Against Cancer is a nonprofit organization with 100% volunteers so we can donate all proceeds to the cause. We've raised almost $700,000 to-date from an one-night event annually. SDPAC is hosting our 24th Annual SD Festival of Beer in Sept 2018 and we are looking to expand our team. The organization is comprised of professionals who work regular full time jobs which volunteer to put together this event on our personal time.

Web Designer Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Strategize and plan a compelling and effective design concept
  • Create clean, unique and innovate web interfaces using text, color, sound and imagery in banners, icons, menus etc
  • Design attractive and alluring pages that are both intuitive, functional and easily navigable
  • Create interfaces that guide the user naturally and make them want to stay and read/click/interact more to purchase event tickets
  • Update our site that reflects and represents our nonprofit organization's brand identity
  • Collaborate with a graphic designer and SDPAC Board for project
  • Create structure and HTML content for the site
  • Project manage and see through all aspects of design through project completion
  • Track and evaluate performance and edit/adapt the site design as needed
  • Organize pages in a functional but aesthetically appealing way that attracts users and makes them take action
  • Ensure mobile-friendly capabilities
  • Optimize website speed
  • Produce consistent, quality work in a timely manner
  • Stay informed on and implement current design trends
Web Designer Requirements and Qualifications
  • Creative mind and strong eye for design and layout
  • Solid understanding of color, spacing, balance and proportion
  • Great collaborator and experience working with a SDPAC team
  • Can create designs that intuitively flow

  • Can easily adapt artistic styles on the fly
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Media Design, Graphic Design, Visual Arts or related field preferred
  • Strong and varied design portfolio
  • Knowledge of HTML, Javascript, WordPress, CSS and PHP
  • Proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), InDesign or other visual design programs
  • 2+ years relevant design work experience
  • A positive attitude, incredible creative ability and a relentless work ethic

The San Diego Festival of Beer is completely 100% volunteer-driven! You are welcome and encouraged to join us by signing up for any of the various efforts it takes to produce this fantastic fundraising event. Join around 300 fellow San Diegans willing to roll up their sleeves, hand out the hoppiness, and help this cancer fighting cause! If you are already a little beyond pledging I Tapa Keg, you will still be amazed at the variety of tasks it takes to produce this single-day event on the bay front. From wine pouring and tickets to t-shirt sells and glass distribution, we have a way to help you put your singular talents and energies to good use this day.
