Global Gifts is a nonprofit fair trade shop located in the Short North Arts District of Columbus. We will be hosting the Bunyaad Fair Trade Rug Event in early March and need help setting up and tearing down the event. Over 200 hand-knotted rugs made by artisans in Pakistan will need to be moved into the store and set up on Tuesday, March 6th from 5-8pm and then to be rolled up and moved out Sunday, March 11th from 5-8pm. Volunteers are ONLY needed on these two dates (3/6 and 3/11) from approximately 5-8pm.Rugs come in a variety of sizes, but some are quite large, so volunteers will need to be able to lift and carry moderately heavy loads. Global Gifts is a nonprofit organization with four fair trade store locations. We are supported by a small staff and a dedicated team of volunteers. At Global Gifts, products are fair trade and handmade, which means your contribution supports fair wages, gender equity, and safe and dignified working conditions. Volunteers will enjoy a fun retail working environment, learning artisan stories, and a 15% discount off purchases.
