ORGANIZATION: New Beginnings Counseling Center

New Beginnings is looking for a reliable and detail-oriented volunteer to enter a variety of data into multiple databases. The Data Entry volunteer will directly contribute to increasing New Beginnings’ staff ability to provide services for and successfully house individuals and families in Santa Barbara.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Input data into an electronic spreadsheet or database
  • Ensure that all data is entered accurately
  • Review all information entered and make corrections where necessary.
  • Assist with the preparation of mailings and event invitation lists.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all data entered.
  • Perform other clerical duties as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Accurate and detail-oriented, with commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work well independently.
  • Must have a keen eye and attention to detail.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel and data processing.
  • This position requires a minimum of 3 month commitment, must be available to work at our office during business hours (9:30-4:30), 2-6 hours per week.

This position provides valuable experience for administrative management students, people with interest in working in the human services or nonprofit field, and those wanting to make a difference for the homeless and mentally ill in our community. Volunteers are highly valued members of the New Beginnings family and contribute to making a significant difference in New Beginnings’ ability to help vulnerable members of our community to stabilize and build healthy, successful lives. New Beginnings will provide reference letters for all volunteers who successfully complete a placement.

New Beginnings Counseling Center is a community organization that provides low-cost counseling service, case management for the homeless and housing insecure, and runs the Safe Parking program, which provides safe overnight parking for individuals and families who are living in their vehicles.
