To become a hospice volunteer the greatest gift one can offer is their time, caring nature and willingness to be present. It's a great opportunity to serve while learning new skills and enhancing existing ones.
Training and ongoing support are provided to all volunteers, so experience is not required. Volunteers are trained to enhance the overall goal of meeting the physical, emotional, spiritual and practical needs of hospice patients and their families.
Volunteers may stay with patients for 1-2 hours a week as companions and at times give caregivers some time away or rest. While volunteers cannot provide clinical or personal care, they may be able to assist with routine tasks and errands, and be a caring companion and compassionate listener to both patients and families.
Our requirements: Volunteers receive 18 hours of training. Volunteers must work closely with Volunteer Program Coordinator as members of the hospice team, attending monthly support meeting and visiting patients once a week.
APPLICATION DEADLINE IS COMING SOON!
For more information on application and upcoming training, please contact Volunteer Program Coordinator by phone (650) 685-2803 or E-mail: rahmane@sutterhealth.org
