Do you support female authors? Do people compliment you on your host/hostess skills? Then come help us serve a dish of tea to a room full of literary enthusiasts! The theme of this tea centers on women authors of the 19th century.

Our volunteers will:

  • Serve tea and food
  • Make sure guests at assigned tables have everything they need
  • Clean up after the event

The event includes:

  • Tea varieties appropriate to the time period
  • Sandwiches and pastries
  • Dramatic readings of passages from 19th century books by women authors
  • A "fashion show" for any guests who came in costume (we are encouraging guests to dress as their favorite character or author from a book written by a woman)

Potential volunteers will need to come to the DAR Museum building for an in-person interview. Volunteers are welcome to dress as their favorite character or author but it is not required.
