We invite you to visit Refugee & Immigrant Services of San Mateo County to learn about the program and clients we serve. You will have the opportunity to hear from the program director about how we are effectively improving the lives of our clients and positively touching our communities through measurable outcomes. We will discuss the opportunities for volunteer engagement at Refugee & Immigrant Services of San Mateo County and answer any questions you may have as you consider getting involved as a volunteer.

Catholic Charities Refugee and Immigrant Services has been welcoming newcomers with dignity, respect, and professionalism for more than 35 years.

Since October 2015, more than 20,000 unaccompanied minors have flocked to U.S. southern borders seeking refuge.

Over the past thirty months, Catholic Charities Refugee and Immigrant Services served more than 100 of these minor refugees, most of whom have visited our offices in San Francisco and San Mateo seeking guidance and legal assistance during our weekly workshops.

Mission Statement

Founded in 1907 and rooted in traditions of charity and justice, Catholic Charities supports families, youth, aging adults, adults with disabilities through social services and opportunities for healthy growth and development.

Description

We believe that families must be supported and strengthened. We believe seniors should be allowed to age in place with dignity. We believe immigrants and refugees should be welcomed with love and compassion. We believe every person deserves a chance to grow in safety. We believe we all have a responsibility to care for our neighbor. We believe in developing young minds and encouraging compassion in our community. We believe in strengthening families and reducing poverty. Rooted in our faith-based values of charity and justice, the mission of Catholic Charities is to serve and advocate for the poor, the sick, the distressed, children, youth, families, immigrants, and seniors, regardless of their faith.

Thanks to the help of volunteers and staff in 2017 we served almost 35,000 clients. 3,024 clients were served by Homelessness and Housing Services.
