We invite you to visit the Rita De Cascia Community to learn about the program and clients we serve. You will have the opportunity to hear from the program director about how we are effectively improving the lives of our clients and positively touching our communities through measurable outcomes. We will discuss the opportunities for volunteer engagement at Rita De Cascia and answer any questions you may have as you consider getting involved as a volunteer.

Since 1984, Rita da Cascia Community has been a unique program in that it specializes in intensive, coordinated case management services to women and children impacted by chronic illness and homelessness. The program is designed to ensure that women and children are connected to vital medical, financial, legal and psychiatric services. Families are offered stability and socialization through:

* Intensive medical case management
* Care coordination
* Wellness support
* Activities

Additionally, Rita da Cascia operates the nine-unit program called Hazel Betsey Community.

Rita da Cascia is a designated Special Project of National Significance and serves as a major link in the Centers of Excellence and Family Service Network collaboration continuum of care through education, counseling and treatment coordination.

Mission Statement

Founded in 1907 and rooted in traditions of charity and justice, Catholic Charities supports families, youth, aging adults, adults with disabilities through social services and opportunities for healthy growth and development.

Description

We believe that families must be supported and strengthened. We believe seniors should be allowed to age in place with dignity. We believe immigrants and refugees should be welcomed with love and compassion. We believe every person deserves a chance to grow in safety. We believe we all have a responsibility to care for our neighbor. We believe in developing young minds and encouraging compassion in our community. We believe in strengthening families and reducing poverty. Rooted in our faith-based values of charity and justice, the mission of Catholic Charities is to serve and advocate for the poor, the sick, the distressed, children, youth, families, immigrants, and seniors, regardless of their faith.

Thanks to the help of volunteers and staff in 2017 we served almost 35,000 clients. 3,024 clients were served by Homelessness and Housing Services. Almost 5,000 refugee and immigrant consultations were provided and 2,332 seniors were served. In addition 25,459 youth were served in San Francisco, Marin and San Mateo.
