Department: Spiritual Care
Mission: Partnering to support a person's recovery
Schedule: Fridays 8am-5pm and 1 other day during the week that works for the volunteer
Qualifications:
-excellent communication skills
-value all people for who they are
-be sensitive and able to interact with people of different faiths
-awareness of cultural diversity in interpersonal interactions
Tasks:
-answer chapel phone and record messages
-welcome/receive chapel visitors
-make copies for worship services
-deliver bibles and/or religious resources to units at patient request
Training:
-orientation through Community Relations department
-on the job
Benefits:
-gain understanding of treatment programs for people with mental illness
-participate in additional training such as C.P.R. and T.I.P.S. (safety)
-professional experience with clients in a psychiatric facility
-expand relational skills with people of diverse beliefs and cultural backgrounds
