Picnic in the Park is an opportunity for families to come to the park, enjoy a picnic, visit the houses, play lawn games and enjoy a natural areas hike. This is a two day event, you do not need to commit both days but we would love to have you for both :)
Volunteers will assist with guest relations, Main Gate greeters, lawn game attendants and assist as Historic House docents.
Volunteers are expected to work the full shift of 7.5 hours, wear proper attire of solid color shirt and khaki or blue shorts or pants, closed toe shoes. They should be prepare to be standing throughout the day, in the sun. Volunteers should bring sunscreen, bug spray and a water bottle. No lunch will be provided.

The Deering Estate is dedicated to preserve and protect the natural, archaeological, architectural, and historic legacy of the Estate by using wise stewardship in the management and utilization of its sensitive resources, while educating and enhancing the public appreciation of the unique characteristics of the site through compatible uses.
Description
Established in 1989, the Deering Estate Foundation (Foundation), is a private, nonprofit 501(c)3 Florida Corporation created to support the Deering Estate (Estate) - a 444 acre natural preserve and historic site listed on the National Register of Historic Places with unequaled physical features and learning opportunities located in a single site accessible to the public. The Foundation supports the Deering Estate's mission, programs and projects in order to preserve and protect the natural, archaeological, architectural and historic legacy of the Estate by using wise stewardship in the management and utilization of its sensitive resources, while educating and enhancing the public appreciation of the unique characteristics of the site through compatible uses. The Foundation and the Estate currently partner and co-manage projects and initiatives including the interpretive signage and marker program, youth and adult volunteer programs, Concert Series, Artist Village/Artist in Residence Program, Learning Programs and various conservation and restoration projects. The Foundation also coordinates major community events such as the Seafood Festival, Wine on Harvest Moon, Festival of the Arts and an annual donor and volunteer appreciation event held each May...all to generate awareness about the Estate's mission and its various conservation and environmental stewardship programs.
