AN INVITATION TO CARE:
Here at Kindred Hospice we believe in quality of life at the end of life. We believe in people helping people. We are dedicated to offering care that helps ease the pain and discomfort of terminally ill patients. Our focus is also providing psychosocial and spiritual support to both patients and their families. Volunteering is a great way to help others and give back to your community. All of our volunteers receive free and comprehensive training so that they are well equipped to handle a multitude of situations. Without our passionate volunteers we would not be able to provide the high level of care that Kindred Hospice is known for. We also have opportunities for people who are looking for administrative opportunities. These would include:
- Answering telephones, filing, making copies, or helping to create admissions packets.
- An Administrative Volunteer might help with compiling and mailing Bereavement letters, sympathy cards or the planning of the Annual Memorial Service.
- An Administrative Volunteer might also assist with data entry and making Tuck-In phone calls to patients, families and caregivers prior to the weekend.
Patient Volunteers would have more of a focus on direct patient care:
- Support is provided in a variety of ways, including the provision of companionship and socialization to patients.
- Offering respite to stressed caregivers.
- Also may include reading to the patients, or taking them outside, and conversing.
- And maybe just sitting quietly with them to show support and companionship.
