Volunteers will be responsible for attending outreach events on time and as assigned. At outreach events, volunteers will speak with community members about what PCA Louisiana does, answer any questions, and hand out vital parenting resources. For the Pinwheel Plantings, volunteers will stand with PCA Louisiana, other nonprofits, state agencies and other volunteers to promote awareness of Child Abuse Prevention Month by planting pinwheels in the ground to create a community pinwheel garden, or distributing pinwheels in community canvasing events.

Description
It is our mission at Prevent Child Abuse (PCA) Louisiana to prevent the abuse and neglect of Louisiana’s children. To achieve our mission, we provide evidence-based parenting resources and prevention programs. Such programs include the Family Nurturing Center of Louisiana, KIDLINE (1-800-CHILDREN), and Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children program. These direct service programs are structured to empower caregivers by providing community based workshops that foster healthy family dynamics, serve as an avenue to seek support when faced with parental challenges, and acquire the skills needed to detect and prevent child sexual abuse.
