Purpose of Position:
Community Cats Field Assistants will assist in trapping projects to help further our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) efforts in the community. With volunteer support, we can cover more ground and provide valuable spay/neuter, microchipping, and medical services to more stray and feral cats. Community Cats Field Assistants also serve as community ambassadors for the program and the cats themselves.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Trapping community cats
- Transporting traps, cats and supplies to and from projects
- Serve as neighborhood ambassador for TNR and community cats by canvassing, providing education, and mediating neighborhood community cat disputes
- Train other members of the community in TNR practices
- Other duties as requested
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Willing and able to volunteer on a flexible schedule
- Possess range of motion and energy to complete tasks such as bending, kneeling, lifting and loading items up to 40 lbs. into a vehicle safely
- Have driver’s license and reliable access to personal vehicle
Training Volunteer Will Receive:
- Trap training
- Cat handling
- TNR overview and education
- Mediation training
