Are you a person who thrives on planning, coordinating, and carrying out events? Are you able to gather and bring together teams to accomplish tasks? To you have a flair for decorating?

You will be the logistical person coordinating all the basics of preparing rooms for events, from staff meetings to open houses to memorials. A key person to represent JAARS and our core value of pursuing excellence.

Brief Description

Coordinates all aspects of special events and meetings including food, location, room setup, decorations, supplies, and invoicing.

  • Able to work in the US

Responsibilities

  • Schedule event and meeting room and place on event calendar
  • Ensure event and meeting spaces are clean, functional, and prepared for users
  • Work with event requester to identify room and equipment requirements
  • Plan and process food requests for meals and breaks with Food Services and users
  • Coordinate and plan with Housing, Food Services, Safety and Security, Audio/Visual, and Facilities to ensure event success
  • Maintain a God-honoring reputation of JAARS with users
  • Supervise setup and cleanup team
  • Process payments and interdepartmental expenses
  • Develop and manage events coordinator’s budget
  • Manage decorations, equipment, and supplies
  • Maintain kitchenette and its supplies
  • Enforce facility use policy
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Two or more years of expertise in managing events and/or conferences preferred, or experience and/or education that provides the needed skills and gifting
  • Competent computer user with office suite software, and cloud services (e.g., Google Apps)
  • Demonstrate a deep and growing walk with the Lord Jesus that includes your personal growth and the ability to support others in their spiritual growth
  • Embrace the vision, mission, and core values of JAARS, and help us live them effectively
  • Excellent public relations and strong writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to work with a variety of departments and individuals
  • Enjoys working with people and in a team environment
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented
  • Capable of managing multiple responsibilities with the goal of completing tasks
  • A self-starter, flexible, and able to work independently

Gift Shop Clerk

Do you enjoy meeting and interacting with people? Do you have the aptitude to operate cash register and credit card machines? Do you like to help people find the perfect gift or resource that they need?

Become part of the gift shop team, and help provide our staff and guests with inspirational resources to help make Bible translation and language development possible, especially in the most remote and difficult places on earth.

Brief Description

Sells merchandise and provides customer service to gift shop clientele.

  • For a part-time volunteer or a staff person who raises support
  • Must be a US citizen or green card holder to apply

Responsibilities

  • Interact with customers to provide a friendly and caring atmosphere
  • Calculate sales, deductions, and accurately count cash
  • Operate cash register and credit card machines
  • Handwrite department, member sales invoices, and telephone orders
  • Wrap or bag merchandise
  • Unpack, inventory, and display merchandise
  • Advise manager of needed inventory
  • Coordinate custom flags and display rentals
  • Open and close the store
  • Deposit the day’s sales with accounting
  • Follow up on check requests
  • Demonstrate a deep and growing walk with the Lord Jesus that includes your personal growth and the ability to support others in their spiritual growth
  • Embrace the vision, mission, and core values of JAARS, and help us live them effectively

  • Enjoy serving and being friendly with customers
  • Work well with coworkers
  • Ability and confidence to make informed decisions when outside the normal operations format
  • Must view this position as a ministry

JAARS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Christian ministry headquartered on a beautiful 500+ acre campus just south of Charlotte, NC. Our campus includes extensive training facilities, an airport, office and commercial facilities, guest housing, food services, recreational areas, health clinic, on-site childcare, and youth and family ministry support for staff and partners.

We are pleased to have more than five hundred people serving on our campus. We partner closely with SIL International, the organizations of the Wycliffe Global Alliance and other organizations locally and globally.

JAARS is a multidisciplinary team of problem-solvers committed to the belief--and the vision--that people’s lives and communities are transformed as they experience God’s Word in their own language.

We are a community of full-time missionaries, dedicated volunteers, and a few employees who work together to accomplish the Great Commission goal of providing Scripture to every people group on earth in a language and form they clearly understand. We do that by supporting Bible translation and language development partners globally, and by working with prayer and financial partners in the United States to help make a range of unique on-the-field solutions possible.
