We work to prevent blindness, preserve sight, and extend the quality of vision life for all residents of Texas. For 61 years Prevent Blindness Texas has been responsible for saving the sight and enhancing the quality of vision for thousands of adults, seniors, and children. PBT works through public and professional education, advocacy, certified vision screener training, community outreach, and patient service programs.
Internship Responsibilities:
This is an unpaid internship that provides hands-on special event management, grant writing, and general development experience in a nonprofit organization. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with public relations, marketing, and sponsorships for special events
- Assisting with event creation and management, including social media events
- Attending and representing Prevent Blindness Texas at events
- Special projects
Qualifications:
- Must be a junior or senior level college student with strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent organizational skills
- Interest nonprofit fundraising
- Lots of great ideas, energy, and plenty of initiative
- Experience with social media platforms in relation to events
- Previous experience with special events a plus
- Graphic design experience a bigger plus
Time Commitment:
Hours are flexible; this position can be fulltime or part-time. Office is located in Uptown Dallas.

Description
The Northeast regional office offers free children's (6 months to 18 years) vision screenings, vision and visual field screenings to adults, education programs (safety instruction in the workplace, children's programs and aging eyes programs for seniors) and free glasses to qualifying adults. Prevent Blindness Texas is a nonprofit, tax exempt, voluntary health organization devoted exclusively to vision preservation and prevention of blindness. It is affiliated with Prevent Blindness America.
