Students Competing

The North Carolina Science Olympiad needs your support to continue recognizing and developing the best and brightest young women and men in the State of North Carolina. NCSO elevates academic learning and competition to a level of enthusiasm and support that is normally reserved only for athletic programs in schools. NCSO is a proven and effective program that ignites a passion for science in participants and leads them to degrees and careers in STEM.

It is our goal to find new volunteers and retain current volunteers who will partner with us so that we can continue to offer the high-quality programs NC has come to know and love.

Volunteers of all skill levels are needed. We have grown a lot and have had to keep adding more regional tournaments so even though our volunteers have blast encouraging the great kids we attract we need to attract new volunteers. Groups are welcomed and several groups from companies or organizations come back year after to year to run an event such as they have a passion for such as the Hoover craft competition, the Disease Detective competition or the Duct Tape Challenge.

Lunch is provided for all volunteers.

Volunteers of all skill sets are needed, to either lead, assist or just provide a set of hands for each event and for score keeping, set up, clean up and even creating the specific challenge in a category. Science Olympiad Alumni are especially welcomed back to help make this tournament a special event for the next generation of Science and Technology professionals.

Mission Statement

North Carolina Science Olympiad (NCSO) is a nonprofit organization with the mission to attract and retain the pool of K-12 students entering science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) degrees and careers in North Carolina. Every year NCSO hosts tournaments on university, community college, and public school campuses across the state. These tournaments are rigorous academic interscholastic competitions that consist of a series of different hands-on, interactive, challenging and inquiry-based events that are well balanced between the various disciplines of biology, earth science, environmental science, chemistry, physics, engineering and technology.

Description

Thank you so much for your interest in the North Carolina Science Olympiad. We are always looking for good people to volunteer to help us run tournaments, create events, develop curriculum, send out mailings, be event leaders, and spread the word about the NCSO. We cannot exist without volunteers. They are our lifeline! We rely on their donations of time, money, and supplies to continue to offer the services we provide. Opportunities for involvement at many levels exist across the state of North Carolina.
