Purpose: We at Education Through Music-Los Angeles (ETM-LA) are seeking High School volunteers who are interested in social media and fundraising to be our High School Ambassadors. Help spread the word about ETM-LA and our mission to bring music education to disadvantaged schools.
Education Through Music-Los Angeles (ETM-LA) partners with inner-city schools to provide music as a core subject for all children. We utilize music education as a catalyst to improve academic achievement, motivation for school and self-confidence.
Location: ETM-LA’s Headquarters in Burbank (2501 W. Burbank Blvd. Burbank, CA 91505 #301) or working remotely is possible.
Key Responsibilities: Help Spread the word on ETM-La at your school and on social media
Reports to Volunteer Coordinator at Education Through Music-Los Angeles
The Length of Appointment: Ongoing basis
Qualifications:
- A passion for music and music education
- Pleasant manner, patience, problem-solving ability, dependability
- A desire to gain experience in social media communications
- Knowledge of various social media platforms (facebook, twitter, instagram, musical.ly, etc.)
Support: Training in our brand standards and social media communication.
Age Requirement: Current High School Student in the Los Angeles Area
Dress Code: Business Casual in the office
Development opportunities: Gain knowledge in social media and the interworking’s of a non-profit organization.

Mission Statement
ETM-LA is a non-profit organization that provides weekly, yearlong music instruction in the disciplines of violin, cello, guitar, recorder, chorus and general music to underserved schools. ETM-LA serves schools where over 95% of the population is minority. Our mission is to promote the sustainable integration of music into the curricula of at-risk schools, and to provide music instruction to EVERY CHILD regardless of musical ability, social economic status or disability. Independent studies have shown that children who play instruments score higher on test scores and excel in all areas. ETM-LA makes music education a reality for thousands of children who would otherwise have limited or no exposure to the arts.
Description
Education Through Music-Los Angeles provides high-quality music education to students in disadvantaged schools in Los Angeles County. ETM-LA partners with inner-city schools to provide music as a core subject for all children and utilizes music education as a catalyst to improve our student's academic achievement, motivation for school, and self-confidence. Our primary activity is forming long-term partnerships with Los Angeles County schools through in-school music education programs. We aim to help principals establish and sustain school-wide music education programs within the Common Core Curriculum. As an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit, Education Through Music-LA is based on the ETM(r) model that has successfully revitalized communities in New York City for 25 years.
