Howard Bishop Middle School, A Community Partnership School is one of CHS’ most recent additions. The model brings together high-quality academics, health care, counseling, support, mentoring and more-all where students and their families are comfortable: in their own school.
Core partners include Children’s Home Society of Florida, the School Board of Alachua County, Santa Fe College, University of Florida and the Alachua County Health Department.
We are currently in the beginning stages of creating an internal mentor program for our students and we are currently looking for interested volunteers. Mentors would meet with a student once a week or every other week during lunch time to provide guidance, knowledge, and give the student someone to look up to. The time commitment it takes to be a mentor is very minimal, but the impact can be huge. Becoming a mentor for a student during this vital time of their life would be an excellent way to help your community and feel good about the work you’re doing.
Positions Available: 12 Those who volunteer/intern for CHS are included in an exclusive CHS Volunteer Culture full of learning experiences, additional professional trainings, and voluntary health programs.
Hours Requested: Mentorship can be Monday-Friday varying from 11:00am-2:00pm and 3:30pm-6:00pm
