Become involved behind-the-scene in justice system changes!
Meticulously and accurately research hundreds of confidential pretrial case documents in multiple databases from 2015 to recently closed cases to determine outcomes such as court appearance and recidivism rates. Critically important data entry and review involved. Compile demographics, case information and outcomes in Excel spreadsheets and once data are gathered, create summary tables and graphs.
Minimum Qualifications: Good computer skills including basic Excel. Detail oriented person with an interest in research and the criminal justice system. Ability to take direction, have patience, work independently, and ask questions as needed. (Training will be provided on all necessary in-house systems). Must be 21 years of age. Must agree to and pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting.
Time requirements: 8-16 hours per week, negotiable. Work hours can be flexible within normal office hours. Hours are negotiable after training is completed, and can be adjusted to meet any school schedule and requirements if internship credit is desired.
Training manual provided and ongoing supervision available. There will be a general orientation to the Justice System, an introduction to current pretrial reform efforts, and exposure to best practices in the field. An overview and orientation to CJS Pretrial Services will be provided and there will be training on individual database computer programs necessary to the position.

Description
We recruit and place volunteers and interns in a variety of volunteer positions for Community Justice Services and the District Attorney's (20th Judicial) office in Boulder County . Volunteers play a vital role in enhancing services to crime victims and juvenile and adult offenders. Our volunteer partners are essential in helping us maintain an open and responsive criminal justice system.
What Do Volunteers Do?
Provide support and information to crime victims and witnesses
Be a mentor to high-risk youth who need extra attention
Help people with consumer fraud complaints
Assist with research/data entry on incarceration rates and program outcomes
Teach ESL, HSE and life skills classes to incarcerated community members
