About City Youth Now

Location:

375 Woodside Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94127, US

Mission Statement

City Youth Now diligently works behind the scenes to provide funds, services, and programs to youth in the San Francisco Juvenile Court System--including the foster care and juvenile justice systems, to promote dignity, self-worth and responsible growth.

Description

City Youth Now, originally founded in 1950 as The Volunteer Auxiliary of Youth Guidance Center, was the first non-profit organization of its kind in the history of the United States' juvenile court system. Since then, we have been working behind the scenes to provide funds and services for youth under the jurisdiction of San Francisco's juvenile court - including youth in the foster care and/or juvenile probation systems, to promote dignity, self-worth and responsible growth.

Social workers, attorneys, probation officers and others come to us almost daily with requests for youth under their supervision. These requests range from emergency clothing for a youth who is leaving juvenile hall to an out of home placement with nothing but the clothes he/she was wearing when booked; to tutoring classes for a youth with educational needs; or financial assistance for youth who are emancipating out of the system to independent living. City Youth Now seeks to provide services and programs that generate a sense of self worth, dignity, and responsible growth among a population of children who so often struggle without any emotional or financial support from their families.
