AccentCare Hospice Friendly Visitors are an integral part of the hospice team. They have the opportunity to make a profound difference in the quality of life for individuals who are facing a terminal illness.
Friendly Visitors or Direct Patient Care Volunteers enrich patients' lives by providing emotional support and companionship for the patient and their families within their home residence.
Volunteers can help in various ways through compassionate listening, reading, listening to music, making crafts, assisting patients to make a legacy project, watching movies, and more. Volunteers also help bring comfort to the family by being an understanding presence.
Since Friendly Visitors have direct patient contact, they must complete AccentCare Volunteer Training, have a valid driver’s license, pass a background check, and complete a TB Test. Accentcare pays for background checks and TB Tests. Volunteers need to be 18 years or older.
For more information contact Arielle Brown at firstname.lastname@example.org.
About AccentCare Hospice and Palliative Care
11675 Great Oak Way, Suite 310, Alpharetta, GA 30022, US
Reimaging care, together to transform healthcare -- and our patients' lives -- for the better.
Hospice volunteers both give and receive many benefits from joining our program.
Volunteers set their own levels of commitment and travel based on their available time and the needs of our patients. Volunteers serve our adult patients of all ages who live within the metro Atlanta area.
Volunteer selection begins with an application and interview where potential volunteers may express their personal goals, availability, interests, and talents.
Volunteers are carefully screened through a criminal background check, motor vehicle report, and personal references.
Direct Care Volunteers help by providing comfort, support, care, and compassion to our patients and their family members, and are required to participate in initial hospice volunteer training as well as basic orientation.Indirect Care Volunteers help by providing administrative assistance on special projects that enhance the work of our staff and support patients, families and the efforts of the teams in the field. Indirect Care Volunteers receive basic orientation, training specific to task undertaking, and are encouraged to attend initial hospice volunteer training.
Additional support meetings and educational opportunities are offered throughout the year as well as ongoing personal support and social gatherings.
