ORGANIZATION: Search Angels

  • 11 people are interested

We are looking for genealogists who have over two years experience and are familiar with interpreting DNA results to help adoptees to find their most likely families or origin. The science behind autosomal DNA testing from companies like AncestryDNA, 23andMe, and Family Tree DNA offer quite a lot or opportunities to help locate birth family through the results containing biological cousins of the adoptee. We encourage all our assistance to be performed through AncestryDNA and ancestry.com as it has become the most popular source for testing with the largest database of matches. It is also well suited for connecting these cousins with family trees that are frequently made public for their matches. We have a form on our website located here: https://www.searchangels.org/volunteers/ for individuals who feel they have the knack for helping these kinds of individuals.

Mission Statement

A group which provides technical support, genetic genealogical expertise and help using traditional search methodologies to assist individuals separated from their biological roots seek and resolve the answers so many deserve to understand.

Description

Our volunteers comprise of genealogists who are familiar with how to interpret DNA results from companies like AncestryDNA, 23andMe and Family Tree DNA to help adoptees and others separated from birth family find their biological roots. We have worked with a myriad individuals throughout the World to solve their search thousands of times over the past several years since our founding. Many of our searchers are adoptees themselves and understand the challenges that come with wanting to know their roots. Even though some laws are changing to allow access to one's original birth certificate, it does not always mean one can find their birth parents with that information in hand. We are here to help solve those mysteries.
